Making Amelia Island Magic
Stills and Motion
STILLS IN TANDEM WITH MOTION
New Amelia Island tourism work conceived by Starmark and brought to life through stills and motion with photographer George Kamper, director Dan Waymack, and two tightly integrated crews.
The campaign was built around the relaxed, unscripted character of Amelia Island—beaches, boating, family experiences and the small moments that make a destination memorable. Our job on the stills side was to preserve that spontaneity while working within a carefully planned motion production.
A SHARED VISION, CAPTURED IN STILLS AND MOTION.
Photographing stills within a major motion production is always a balancing act. You need the production value of the larger shoot without allowing the still camera to become secondary—or slow the motion crew down.
For Amelia Island, director Dan Waymack and I worked with two coordinated crews, sharing talent, locations and the creative direction established by Starmark. That structure allowed us to move independently when necessary while keeping the still and motion imagery firmly within the same visual world.
CONCEPT-DRIVEN SPONTANEITY
The challenge is that the moments that appear effortless on camera are often being created inside a highly structured production day.
Working alongside motion meant constantly reading what was happening around us—knowing when to work from the existing setup, when to peel talent away for a few minutes, and when an unexpected moment was better than anything on the shot list.
The two-crew approach gave both stills and motion the room to do their jobs without losing the continuity of the campaign.
FROM CONCEPT TO PRINT
Starmark conceived the campaign from the outset as a multi-platform story, designed to work seamlessly across still photography, video, print, social and digital while maintaining one cohesive visual language.
